The AYA NEO Founder handheld gaming console has already been winning fans due to its intriguing design, which features translucent sides, and its portable power mainly provided by the presence of a Renoir APU: the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U. While the Zen 2 Ryzen 4000 chipset is not the most powerful member of its low-TDP family (it’s hardly a Ryzen 7 4800U), it’s still a 6-core chip with a CPU part that can boost to 4.0 GHz and with a GPU component (Vega 6) that can clock at 1,500 MHz and deliver 1,152 GFLOPS of calculating performance.
Along with 16 GB of speedy RAM (@4266 MHz) the AYA NEO Founder console boasts of a 7-inch display and a 47 Wh battery. All of this contributed to the device being able to run the resource-hungry Cyberpunk 2077 generally at around 30-35 FPS, with some parts dipping into the high 20s and even a brief spike hitting 39 FPS. Of course, the game settings are most likely on the minimum available, but it’s still an impressive showing by a portable console with a 6-core processor and integrated GPU.
With the AYA NEO priced at 3,999 yuan (US$611) for the 512 GB model and 4,599 yuan (US$703) for the 1 TB version, you could argue that it would be wiser investing in a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X for playing Cyberpunk 2077 as those consoles are cheaper (if you can find one to buy). But they don’t come with an inbuilt 7-inch 215 PPI display, neither of them weighs just 650 g, and you can’t tuck the PS5 or XSX away in your pocket unless you have ridiculously large pockets. The manufacturer claims you can enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 on-the-go for a solid 2.5 hours before the battery dies.
