TCL has announced that the upcoming PlayCube Projector has won an iF Design Award 2025. The product debuted at CES 2025 as a box-shaped portable theater solution. It will be the second globally available projector from the brand, following the A1 GTV Projector which launched in 2024 (curr. $399.99 at Amazon).
In the announcement, TCL revealed more details about the PlayCube projector. We now know that it will deliver up to 750 ISO lumens brightness with a sealed optical engine. We have already seen its twistable design, inspired by the Rubik’s Cube, enabling the user to adjust the projection angle. This also means that there is no need for a stand.
The PlayCube will offer the Google TV interface, providing access to a wide range of streaming services. Plus, there is a fabric-wrapped speaker module and a built-in battery, making it a truly portable solution. The projector is designed for indoor or outdoor use and is expected to be small enough to fit on a nightstand; exact measurements have yet to be confirmed. Images show that it will have ports like HDMI, USB-A, USB-C for charging and an audio jack.
Customers will be able to choose between at least three colors: black, blue-gray and beige. However, it is unclear when the TCL PlayCube projector will launch and how much it will cost. It appears that the product will be released in countries across Europe, North America and South America. TCL has also won a 2025 iF Design Awards for various TV models, including the recently released Q10L and Q10L Pro.
