Xgimi has officially unveiled the Play 6 and Play 6e projectors in China. These 1080p models have been teased on social media for a few days, and they are a successor to the Play 5, known as the MoGo 3 Pro globally. Now, the full specifications for these projectors have been revealed.
The Play 6 and Play 6e are portable DLP projectors with a hidden 360° gimbal stand, an improvement on the 130° rotating offered with the Play 5’s built-in stand. These models are also brighter, with the Play 6 and Play 6e delivering 600 CVIA (500 ISO) lumens; the Play 5’s light source only provided up to 500 CVIA (450 ISO) lumens. They cover 124% of the Rec. 709 color gamut, with MEMC motion smoothing and support for HDR10 and HLG. Another change compared to the Play 5 is the micro HDMI port is swapped out for a standard HDMI port on the newer models. Plus, Xgimi claims that there is low latency, suggesting the Play 6 series projectors are suitable for gaming with a Nintendo Switch (curr. $299 at Amazon).
The Play 6 has a 20,000mAh built-in battery allowing for up to 2.5 hours of video playback, recharging via USB-C. Meanwhile, the Play 6e must be powered via the USB-C port. Both models feature 12W speakers, Xgimi branded for the Play 6e and Harman Kardon for the Play 6, both supporting Dolby Audio. The Play 6 comes with a Mini Remote, which can be purchased separately from the Play 6E. On top of this, the Play 6 has a Universal Mirror Set accessory that allows users to create unique lighting effects with hand gestures.
As expected, these two projectors have won an iF Design Award 2025. The Xgimi Play 6 and Play 6E retail for CNY 2,099 (~$290) and CNY 1,799 (~$249), respectively, in China. While Xgimi has yet to officially announce plans to launch these projectors in other markets, the iF Design Awards page indicates that a version of this projector will launch in Australia (Oceania), Europe and North America in the future.
