A new SwitchBot smart home hub is on the way. The Hub 3 recently appeared in the Connectivity Standards Alliance database as a Matter-certified device. It will build on the Hub 2, which launched in 2023.
In the listing, SwitchBot states that the Hub 3 can connect to BLE-enabled devices, allowing them to be controlled remotely. It appears to offer controls for infrared appliances. Like the Hub 2, it features a display showing information like the detected temperature and humidity in your home, as well as a local weather forecast. Here, you can also view the status updates of door locks in real time. A new feature is the intelligent knob and adjacent buttons which allow users to remotely control a connected smart air conditioner, adjusting the temperature by 1°C. Plus, you can also use the dial to control the volume of your music or podcast; this feature is compatible with Apple TV, Spotify and other streaming platforms.
From the smart gateway hub’s homepage, you can use four customisable buttons to quickly trigger scenes, like a sleep mode. The screen is motion-activated, instantly waking in response to a hand gesture. Plus, it supports voice controls with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. Thanks to Matter compatibility, it will integrate with a wide range of smart home ecosystems, including Apple HomeKit and Samsung SmartThings. Further details, such as the size of the SwitchBot Hub 3, have yet to be revealed. It is also unclear when this smart home device will launch or how much it will cost. As a guide, the SwitchBot Hub 2 is priced at £79.99/€79.99 (Amazon DE).
