Nuki has launched the Smart Lock Pro (5th Gen) in Europe. This latest version of the smart home product has several upgrades over its predecessor, the Smart Lock Pro (4th Gen). The lock is designed to be retrofitted on your front door, slotting over the key and lock, for hands-free unlocking and other smart features.
The Smart Lock Pro (5th Gen) offers Wi-Fi and Thread connectivity for tools like automatic locking and locking of your front door. In the Nuki app, you can share virtual keys with friends and family and view recent activity. There is support for the Matter standard, as well as Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit integrations. Plus, it comes with a built-in rechargeable battery, fully charging in two hours.
The fifth generation device is said to have a “cutting-edge” brushless motor, meaning it can lock and unlock more than three times faster than older versions. Users also now have three locking speeds to choose from, whereas earlier generations were limited to one speed. “Insane” mode locks the door in around 1.5 seconds, while “Gentle” has a slower pace for a quieter experience. On top of this, the body has been redesigned as a more compact cylinder with a textured stainless steel finish and can be fitted with your choice of a black or white ring.
The Nuki Smart Lock Pro is now available for £229/€269 in countries including the UK, the Netherlands and France. As a reminder, the previous generation model was more expensive at £255/€289. It is unclear when it will arrive at third-party retailers like Amazon, where you can currently buy the Nuki Smart Lock Pro (4th Gen) for €239.99 (Amazon DE).
