Nuki Smart Lock and Smart Lock Pro 4.0 arrive with Matter compatibility
The Nuki Smart Lock and Smart Lock Pro 4th Generation are now on sale in Europe. You can remotely unlock the device via the accompanying app or with Auto Lock, which uses BLE, GPS, and Wi-Fi to detect your approach to the door.
The main upgrade for the fourth generation compared to the predecessors is Matter compatibility, enabling you to add the device to smart home ecosystems such as Google Home and Apple Home, with Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings coming soon. Another improvement is the increased battery life of the new smart lock, which is up by 30% to around six months. Plus, the Pro model also supports Wi-Fi thanks to a built-in WLAN module, and Thread compatibility will be unlocked next Spring with an upgrade from Matter 1.1 to Matter 1.2 for even more control options. Owners of the standard model can pay a one-off fee of €39 to enable controls via Thread.
Similar to the older model, the new Smart Lock has a plastic housing with metal elements in the Smart Lock Pro. The Nuki Keypad 2 Pro has also been unveiled, allowing you to unlock the Smart Lock with your fingerprint or a code. You can buy the Nuki Smart Lock 4th Gen and Smart Lock Pro 4th Gen for £149/€169 and £245/€279, respectively. There are various options such as white or black casings, euro profile or Swiss round profile lock cylinder and adapters to suit a range of door knobs, as necessary. The Nuki Keypad 2 Pro retails for £309/€349, and all devices will be available at Amazon starting November 15.
