Dell actually planning the 11.6-inch “Argos”?
There have been strong rumors about Dell planning to bring out an 11.6-inch netbook, codenamed “Argos”.
Both Acer and Asus have already revealed plans of releasing 11.6-inch version of netbooks. In fact Acer has an existing series by the name of Aspire One 751. Now Dell is reportedly planning an 11.6-inch netbook. This rumor comes on the heels of Dell planning to phase out the Dell Mini Inspiron 9 a couple of weeks ago and the Mini Inspiron 12 very recently. The Mini 12 has already disappeared from the Dell’s sites in Australia, UK, Hong Kong and Singapore. It’s still up at Dell US though.
According to a roadmap leaked over a month ago, the Mini 12 will supposedly be replaced by the 11.6-inch category, codenamed Argos. It should have a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, powered by an Intel CULV processor, up to 2GB of RAM and 160-250GB of hard disk – as reported by portablemonkey.
The spreading of words got aggravated by the fact that Dell has placed orders of 11.6-inch netbook panels with Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), based out of Taiwan. CPT showcased an 11.6-inch netbook panel and a 13.3-inch CULV panel at the recent concluded Computex, which supposedly landed those orders from Dell and Samsung respectively – according to Digitimes. Digitimes says it should go into production in July, so you can safely say the Argos will be born no sooner than August.
