New monochrome Casio G-Shock Luxe Black watches land in the US

Casio has expanded its G-Shock lineup in the US with four new all-black GM-2100 models as part of a new "Luxe Black" collection. First introduced in Japan back in June, the watches are now finally making their way to the States, bringing a more understated take on the brand's rugged analog-digital "CasiOak" design.
The Luxe Black lineup is a more refined interpretation of the standard GM-2100 and carries a minimalist, monochromatic aesthetic intended to make the watches feel equally at home with casual outfits or more formal attire.
First up, we have the GM-2100LXB-1A, which pairs a black ion-plated stainless steel bezel with silver accents on the dial. Then there’s the GM-2100LXB-1A9 with gold accents applied to the inset dials and vapor deposition around the perimeter of the glass.
The matte black dial features a fine textured surface designed to absorb light and suppress reflections. Casio says it also developed new slimmed-down hour and minute hands with extended proportions, along with redesigned vapor-deposited hour markers, which further improve legibility without ruining the quiet aesthetic.
It’s worth noting that the GM-2100LXB-1A and 2100-LXB-1A9 are not full-metal watches. They're more accurately identified as “metal-covered” and are not to be confused with the full-metal GST G-Steel series with a stainless steel screw-back case.
The resin GA-2100LXB models cost nearly half as much
The Luxe Black lineup also includes two more affordable resin options in the form of the GA-2100LXB-1A and GA-2100LXB-1A9. Priced at $145, these offerings swap the metal bezel in favor of a black resin one and pair it with a smooth resin strap, but otherwise stick to the same all-black design language.
The GA-2100LXB-1A gets silver vapor-deposited hour markers, while the GA-2100LXB-1A9 opts for gold to provide a subtle metallic contrast against the black dial.
Except for the materials, there's little separating the four watches. They all offer the same feature set, including 200-meter water resistance, world time across 31 time zones (48 cities), a 1/100-second stopwatch, a 24-hour countdown timer, five daily alarms, dual Super Illuminator LEDs to illuminate both the analog face and the digital display, a full auto calendar through 2099, and hand-shift functionality for a clearer view of the digital display. They also feature a day of the week subdial at the 9 o'clock position and a small digital display cutout between the 4 and 6 o'clock. The battery life is rated for up to 3 years on two SR726W batteries.
