Garmin Approach S70: New golf smartwatch leaks in two sizes

Roland Quandt and WinFuture have shared details about several forthcoming Garmin smartwatches, including a new Approach S series model for golfers. For reference, Garmin is also preparing to update its Epix Gen 2 and Fenix 7 series, covered separately. According to Quandt, the next Approach S model will be the Approach S70, which leaked promotional images reinforce.

Currently, Quandt has not obtained any Approach S70 specifications or any pricing. In any case, the photos revealed so far confirm several aspects, not least the Approach S70's design. Seemingly, Garmin has modernised the Approach S series since last year's Approach S62. For example, the Approach S70 has a slimmer outer bezel than its predecessor. The three hardware button combo remains, though, as does Garmin's four pogo pin-style power adapter returns rather than wireless charging.

Garmin has also brought across a black and red colour combination from the Approach S62. Likewise, the company still applies this colour option to a 47 mm case size. However, it appears that Garmin will release a smaller 42 mm version of the Approach S70, too, in white/rose gold and grey/green finishes.

Presumably, the larger Approach S70 will retail for about as much as its predecessor, which Garmin still sells for US$499.99. Assuming Garmin's pricing strategies for the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S, the Approach S70's 42 mm option could come in at around US$50 cheaper than its 47 mm counterpart. Quandt expects Garmin to announce all Approach S70 models at the end of the month or by the beginning of June at the latest.
