iReader has a new E Ink note-taking tablet with a display that's smaller than that of rivals, but might be an advantage for it. Sporting an 8.2-inch Carta 1300 display, the device has stylus support and will be released in China soon.

A few months after launching the Neo 3 Ultra e-reader, iReader has shared details of a new device launching soon. The new product will be sold as the iReader Air 3 Pro, and unlike the Neo 3 Ultra which is a 6-inch e-reader, this is a much larger device with rivals such as the reMarkable Paper Pure and the Kindle Scribe.

The iReader Air 3 Pro's 8.2-inch screen may make it appealing to those who want a compact note-taking device.

Although the iReader Air 3 Pro isn't scheduled for release until later this week, its specifications, as well as what it looks like, have become public knowledge. The upcoming device will have an 8.2-inch Carta 1300 black and white E Ink display. This makes it a smaller alternative to the 10.3-inch reMarkable Paper Pure and the 11-inch Kindle Scribe without Front Light (available on Amazon for $429.99).

However, one similarity the iReader Air 3 Pro has with its rivals is its lack of a front light, which means you will need to turn the lights on if you want to do any reading or writing when it's dark. It goes without saying that it also has stylus support.

The iReader Air 3 Pro has a metal frame.

The display has moderately sized bezels with the left side being thicker to make it easier to hold without pressing on the screen. This left side is also home to two page turn buttons as shown in the official teaser poster and the frame is reported to be made of metal. It has also been stated that the iReader Air 3 Pro is powered by a 6nm octa-core processor and has a microSD card slot for adding more storage (up to 2TB).

We expect the full spec sheet and price will be available on August 6 when it will be released in China.
