Just a few months after announcing the Gamesir X5 Lite telescopic controller, Gamesir has quietly followed it up with a second model that is called the Gamesir X5s. Although the controller is compatible with Windows, Android, and iOS devices, GameSir's marketing is focused on its compatibility with the Nintendo Switch 2.
The Gamesir X5s, like the Gamesir X5 Lite, is a telescopic mobile controller. However, a key difference between the two controllers is connectivity. The new Gamesir X5s connects via Bluetooth (Bluetooth 5.3) or 2.4GHz wireless to a compatible device. This means it has a built-in battery. On the other hand, the Gamesir X5 Lite (available on Amazon for $34.99) has a USB-C port that plugs into a compatible device. This mode of connection has reduced latency but also means the controller is drawing power from the connected device.
The X5s mobile controller is compatible with devices between 110mm to 213 mm in length such as the Vivo X200, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Lenovo Legion Y700 tablet, and the Nintendo Switch 2. It has Hall Effect triggers (adjustable), Hall Effect thumbsticks, a six-axis gyroscope, and ALPS linear motors similar to those in the Switch for HD rumble.
The Gamesir X5s has Xbox layout 'ABXY' buttons but they can be interchanged to the Nintendo's Switch's layout. GameSir says it has an 840mAh battery but didn't say how many hours of play a single charge will provide.
According to ITHome, the Gamesir X5s is priced at CNY 269 (~$37/€32) in China, but it is expected to cost a bit more when it makes its way to other markets.
