Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G

The Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus impresses with its massive 6,200mAh battery, offering long-lasting power and efficient usage, but it does not come without a few trade-offs in performance. Despite its impressive battery capacity, the phone feels sleek and compact, dispelling any initial concerns about bulkiness. The Sand Star Green variant boasts a stunning shimmering back design, paired with a squircle camera module that enhances its premium feel. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the front and back adds durability, though the plastic frame feels a bit cheaper. On the front, the 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate offers vibrant colours and excellent brightness. HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision support make it ideal for content consumption, providing great visibility in bright environments without reflections hampering the viewing experience. The display delivers deep blacks and vivid colours, making it perfect for watching movies and videos. However, audio quality is less impressive, with the stereo speakers providing loud bass but lacking in separation. The 6200mAh battery supports high-energy silicon-carbon technology, and even with continuous use, including gaming and video streaming, it performs well. The phone easily lasts 2+ days on moderate usage, and its 90W fast charging allows it to go from 50% to 100% in about 15 minutes, which is a great convenience. However, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor is a letdown for a “Pro Plus” model. Despite its power efficiency, the chipset offers disappointing performance, with benchmark numbers falling short as compared to last year’s Dimensity 7200 Ultra. Gaming performance is similarly average, with games like BGMI and COD Mobile capping out at 60 FPS, and more demanding games like Genshin Impact showing significant frame drops.

The phone comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but both are paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, which are outdated compared to last year's LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 configurations. This affects the device’s multitasking and storage performance, with occasional RAM management issues and stuttering during intensive tasks. As for the camera, the 50MP Omnivision Light Fusion 800 sensor performs decently in daylight, capturing good detail, but with over-saturated colours. The 8MP ultra-wide sensor suffers from a lack of detail, while the 50MP telephoto sensor provides better colour accuracy but still struggles with consistency across the three sensors. Low-light performance is poor, with noisy images and a lack of detail. The selfie camera also underperforms, producing washed-out skin tones and lacking finer details, making it subpar for portrait shots. In summary, the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus stands out for its massive battery and sleek design, but the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and outdated memory/storage configurations limit its overall performance. While it excels in battery life and display quality, the camera struggles and the gaming experience could be better, making it a mixed bag for users seeking high-end performance.

82% Redmi Note 14 Pro+ Review: Still Noteworthy, but no longer the undisputed champ!
Source: Tech PP English
So, should you be considering investing in the Redmi Note 14 Pro+? Well, it is one of the best phones you can get in the vicinity of Rs 30,000. It is a significant step ahead of the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ in terms of overall performance, and that telephoto sensor and large battery give it a slight edge over the competition. That said, it is “one of the best” and not the undisputed champ of its price zone. As we indicated earlier, the likes of OnePlus and Vivo have devices in their range with comparable specs, design, and performance. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is easily the best Note ever in terms of almost every parameter, but unlike many of its predecessors, it is not in a Note-ably different league from the competition.

I have not reviewed Xiaomi or Redmi smartphones since the initial days. But that has not prevented me from buying these phones, especially for my parents, or recommending them when someone asks for a budget device. That is because in my books the Redmi Note series has always been a go-to device when someone wants more bang for their buck. But does that stand true even in 2024? I took the new Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G for a spin to check this. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G is a stylish-looking phone with a distinct camera module, curved edges that make it comfortable to hold, and a large 6.67-inch AMOLED display. The 1.5K AMOLED display is sharp and bright, good enough to be used in all light conditions.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ continues to embody Xiaomi’s value-for-money ethos. The latest iteration offers dependable cameras and performance, while significantly improving durability and design. I also like its new design, which remains sleek and highly portable despite housing a massive battery. I appreciate Xiaomi’s efforts to enhance the UI with the latest HyperOS skin, though further improvements are necessary to make the experience less cluttered by reducing the number of pre-installed third-party apps. As noted, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 delivers reliable performance, although its synthetic benchmark scores are modest compared to rivals like the Edge 50 Pro and the Dimensity 9200+-powered Vivo T3 Ultra.

Redmi Note 14 Pro+ price in India starts at under Rs. 30,000 (8GB + 128GB) - at least that's what the company announced during the launch, while the 12GB + 512GB storage is set at Rs. 34,999. At this price, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is still an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a smartphone that is packed to the brim. However, I'm not too sure about the post-launch offers pricing for the smartphone as the company has yet to come back to me with a response to my query on pricing. It is the only phone in the market right now with durability credentials, including passing a 1.5-metre drop test onto marble and also packs an IP68 rating. It packs a fantastic display, can handle performance like a pro, and packs decent cameras.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ has a lot to offer. It’s not just all the specifications and features you see on its spec sheet, but we are talking about the experience. The phone has a gorgeous design and a flagship-level display. It has a massive battery that easily lasts a day for most users and a snappy performance. The camera isn’t flawless, but it's pretty good in most scenarios. At Rs 29,999, needless to say, the phone is a steal.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ builds on the strengths of its predecessor, delivering an elegant design that belies its price tag. The flowing curves combined with the vegan leather back and brand-new camera housing makes it one of the best-looking phones around, and it now comes with a massive 6200mAh battery that lasts two days between charges. You get one of the most versatile camera systems in this category thanks to a new telephoto lens alongside a decent wide-angle module, and the phone takes great photos. But there's a problem; the phone comes with Android 14 out of the box, there's plenty of bloatware, and the touted AI features aren't available at launch. Essentially, Xiaomi's continued software foibles ruin an otherwise great device.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro+ hands-on review
Source: GSM Arena English
The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is priced at INR 30,999 for 8+128GB, INR 32,999 for 8+256GB, and INR 35,999 for 12+512GB. The phone impresses with a good design, high-quality display, and a massive battery. On the other hand, the hardware feels a generation behind the competition, and it shows in its performance. The cameras are decent but lack 60fps video recording at 4K. And while the battery is certainly larger, it has come at the cost of reduced charging speeds. Considering the increased prices and a software experience that is still riddled with bloatware and ads, things look a bit tough for the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ in the current landscape. If battery life, a dedicated telephoto camera, and HyperOS are your priority then the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ makes sense. Otherwise, there are plenty of more well-rounded options on the market.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus Review: Style Meets Durability
Source: Cashify English
Xiaomi has made some noticeable improvements with the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus this year. You get an improved design, better cameras with a telephoto lens and a massive 6,200mAh battery. However, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 has mediocre performance compared to the competition, and the Indian variant lacks the IP69 certification. Since Xiaomi is focusing more on the offline market with the Note series, there is no doubt that it will sell like hotcakes in the sub-30 K segment. However, if you are an online-only user, then there are much better options available, such as the Motorola Moto Edge 50 Pro and the OnePlus Nord 4 .

Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro combines sleek design, robust performance, and impressive battery life into a mid-range smartphone. With a slim profile of 162.3 mm by 74.4 mm and a weight of 190g, the device is easy to handle and offers IP68/IP69K water and dust resistance, ensuring durability in everyday use. Its boxy silhouette, refined edges, and minimalistic rear camera module with a circular flash add to its modern aesthetics. Available in Black, White, Purple, and Green, the phone also features a matte finish that resists fingerprints. The IR blaster continues to be a standout, allowing users to control smart home devices. The 6.67-inch AMOLED display is a key highlight, offering a sharp 1220 x 2712 resolution and 446 ppi pixel density. Enhanced by Dolby Vision and HDR10+, the display ensures vibrant, sharp visuals. A 120Hz refresh rate guarantees smooth scrolling, while the peak brightness of 3000 nits makes it highly legible outdoors. The Always-On Display feature offers quick access to notifications without unlocking the phone. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 further adds durability, protecting the screen from scratches and drops. Powering the Redmi Note 14 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset, built on a 4nm process. It features an octa-core CPU with 4x2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 cores for demanding tasks and 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores for everyday use. The Mali-G615 MC2 GPU ensures smooth graphics performance, making the device suitable for gaming and media consumption. The phone offers multiple storage options: 128GB with 8GB RAM, 256GB with 8GB or 12GB RAM, and a top-end 512GB with 12GB RAM. However, there is no microSD card slot, so users must rely on the internal storage.

The camera setup on the Redmi Note 14 Pro is impressive for its class. The 50 MP primary sensor (with f/1.5 aperture and OIS) delivers clear, detailed photos even in low light. It’s paired with an 8 MP ultra-wide lens (f/2.2, 120° field of view) and a 2 MP macro lens (f/2.4) for close-ups. The rear camera supports 4K video recording at 24/30fps and 1080p at various frame rates, with gyro-EIS for stable footage. The 20 MP selfie camera (f/2.2) also captures detailed images and supports 1080p video recording. The 5500 mAh battery ensures long-lasting performance, capable of handling heavy usage throughout the day. The phone supports 45W wired charging with PD3.0, allowing for quick recharges. Despite the large battery, the phone remains lightweight and comfortable. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC (region-dependent). The phone also features GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, and QZSS for precise location tracking. Stereo speakers with Hi-Res audio support provide an immersive sound experience, while the in-display fingerprint scanner ensures security. Sensors like the accelerometer, gyro, compass, and ultrasonic are also included for enhanced functionality. In summary, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro stands out with its sleek design, solid performance, and impressive camera capabilities, all powered by a long-lasting battery. It’s an excellent choice for users looking for a reliable, well-rounded smartphone in the mid-range segment.

65% Redmi Note 14 Pro Review: A note-worthy upgrade?
Source: Think Digit English
The Redmi Note 14 Pro brings several premium features to the mid-range segment, staying true to Xiaomi’s tradition of offering value-packed devices. Its standout design, with an IP68 rating and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, makes it a durable and stylish option in its price range. The primary camera and the vibrant AMOLED display add to its appeal, especially for casual users who prioritise aesthetics and multimedia. However, the phone faces tough competition from rivals like the Motorola Edge 50 Neo and the OnePlus Nord CE4, which offer cleaner software experiences and slightly better overall performance. While the Redmi Note 14 Pro’s battery and charging speeds are decent for most users, heavy gamers or power users might find alternatives more suited to their needs.

Alright, so I better wrap up my review of the new Redmi Note 14 Pro. And as you’ve probably already guessed by now, I’m not its biggest fan in the world. I know that there are definitely a bunch of things to love about this guy. Including its gorgeous design, that fantastic display, and multi-day battery life. And also its durability thanks to all those IP ratings and the Victus 2 glass. But unless you are literally the clumsiest person on Earth, I can’t recommend the Redmi Note 14 Pro for some 25,000 Indian rupees. And I think instead of spending on all those IP certifications, Xiaomi should have invested in a better chipset and better cameras. So depending on your priority, you can shop from much better alternatives instead.

Priced at Rs 27,000 for the top-end variant, the Redmi Note 14 Pro commands a slight premium for a mid-range phone. But the extra cost feels justified when you look at what it offers — especially the standout display and long-lasting battery life. The display, though not a 2K panel, is impressively sharp and more than sufficient for most users. Its colour reproduction and contrast are exceptional, rivalling those of premium devices that cost nearly twice as much. If visuals are a priority for you, this phone delivers in spades. Performance-wise, the Note 14 Pro is solid, provided your expectations are realistic. It handles everyday tasks with ease and manages casual gaming well enough. However, if you push it too hard — whether it’s multitasking or demanding games — you might notice the occasional stutter.

75% Redmi Note 14 review: a well-balanced budget smartphone
Source: 91mobiles English
The Redmi Note 14 starts at Rs 18,999 for the base model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. The 8GB RAM variant is available in two storage options: 128GB priced at Rs 19,999 and 256GB at Rs 21,999. The base model is a good choice for budget-conscious users, provided the pre-installed apps aren’t a dealbreaker. Gaming enthusiasts might find better alternatives, such as the iQOO Z9s. However, battery-focusers users will be pleased as the Redmi Note 14 excels in areas like battery life and charging speeds. Moreover, its vibrant AMOLED display, durable design, and reliable 50MP primary camera with OIS make it a compelling choice for everyday use. The addition of basic AI tools with extended security update support adds to its value.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Review: A Balanced Mid-Range Contender
Source: Cashify English
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 performs very well in this price range. Since it has a 120Hz AMOLED display, decent 50MP triple rear cameras, and a 5,110mAh with fast charging, it meets most of the requirements for a good mid-range device. However, the Dimensity 7025 processor, which is acceptable, might seem weak in some areas compared to other devices of similar tier, but for its intended use, it gets the job done. The device has affordable pricing and is loaded with many features. So, if you are looking for a mobile phone, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 makes sense, and even more so after its launch in the Indian market, where it is likely to be more optimised. You may also pick and compare some other phones like Realme Nazo 70 Turbo, CMF Phone 1, Samsung Galaxy M35 5G, and Motorola Moto G45 5G. Thanks for reading the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 review.
