Reviews for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G
The Redmi Note 14 Pro is an affordable mid-range phone with premium features, rare at this price. However, Xiaomi has made some compromises. Find out where it excels and where it falls short in our review.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro is a solid all-rounder at an approachable price point. The screen is great, the battery lasts for a long time, you get plenty of storage, and the performance is adequate, so long as you’re not a hardcore gamer. The camera system leans heavily on the main sensor, which performs very well, but it lacks versatility compared to some of the competition. For instance, the Nothing Phone 3a only costs £30 more at MSRP, and gives you a dedicated 2x that outperforms the Redmi’s digital crops. However, that’s only true when the device is sold at MSRP. We’ve seen the phone drop to as little as £239 recently, which is a real bargain. At this price, the phone becomes a much more compelling option, and one of the best cheap phones, but at the full £299 MSRP, the competition is pretty fierce.

Do we recommend the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G? Yes, in a way. Based on a quick price search, the slightly better Redmi Note 14 Pro+ costs at least $80 more than the $315 14 Pro 5G. The direct predecessor even has a slightly higher street price, so you can obtain the current model for the same price. Overall, however, I think it wouldn't hurt to take a look at our 'Best Of' lists (Best sub-$200 smartphones and Best $300 smartphones). There, you will find many smartphones that will most probably feature one or two more functions that make them an exciting alternative for you. You know, I can't mention too many negative things about this handset, since the handset is clearly not the newest kid on the block by now and would have had experienced its fair share of price drops.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro and Pro Plus cater to casual smartphone users and photography enthusiasts on a budget. They offer plenty of storage, good looks, quality displays, great durability credentials, and sleek styling. The cheaper Redmi Note 14 Pro is a winning option if you want a best-in-class main camera and don’t need a smidgen of extra power and faster power-ups. The Pro Plus, meanwhile, is more future-proofed owing to the more specced out processor, but there really isn’t a huge amount in it. We definitely wouldn’t call either phone a no-brainer given the relatively punchy prices on launch, Xiaomi’s bloated HyperOS, and the weak secondary cameras on board. Nevertheless, at the right price and with Xiaomi’s habit of heavily discounting Redmi phones almost immediately after launch, either phone could be a great buy.

This smartphone can be described in many ways, but it’s definitely not boring. On one hand, it’s the first “camera phone” in many years, with a clear focus on the camera. It has a pleasing design, an almost flawless display, and doesn’t compromise on ergonomics. HyperOS will likely satisfy more users than it will disappoint. The drawbacks stem from the SoC. Choosing this particular device will require weighing its advantages against its weaknesses. So, if you’re after excellent design, great cameras, and solid ergonomics, I would recommend the Redmi Note 14 Pro!

Considering the price category, we can say that Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G offers the user almost everything they need. A high-quality AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, sufficient performance for most tasks, a good main camera and a nice body with full IP68 protection, albeit with a plastic back cover. The smartphone has good stereo sound and quite sufficient battery life. Although there are also complaints. The smartphone supports a lower charging power than last year's model and does not come with a power supply. The shell traditionally has ads and unnecessary applications. And instead of an inefficient 2 megapixel macro camera, I would like to see a telephoto. Especially since some competitors have it. For example, Motorola Edge 50 Neo.

While Xiaomi smartphones usually serve up some impressive hardware for the price, this generation is slightly sub-par. Mediatek's Dimensity 7300 Ultra delivers quite juddery performance, when using the camera or gaming. Wuthering Waves can be played on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G. However, you'll need to scale the graphics down and use that HyperOS GameTurbo mode. Likewise, it's the same 200MP camera vs the old 13 Pro 5G phone from last year. This is fine for everyday pics but struggles to shoot video, again thanks to that Dimesnity chipset. Plus, while battery life is fine, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is beaten by rivals for capacity and speed of recharging.

Alright, so I better wrap up my review of the new Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G now. And as you’ve probably already guessed, there’s just so much to love about it. Everything from its design, display, performance, and battery, to even the cameras are top notch for the price. I really, really, really wished Xiaomi had managed to ship it with the latest software — aka HyperOS 2.0 — but other than that, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is a terrific phone for some 40,000 rupees in Nepal. Matter of fact, I don’t even think there’s any other phone remotely as balanced as this thing right now.

You may think that spaffing out cash on the Pro+ phone might bag you the absolute best tech, although it's only the regular Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 5G that offers a headphone jack and expandable storage. The Redmi Note Pro 5G does upgrade the display tech to a slightly brighter 1.5k panel with Dolby Vision support, while the camera is boosted to a 200MP shooter. However, gaming is still limited unless you go Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus 5G. Battery life is excellent on all three smartphones although again it's the Pro+ that really impresses with 120W fast charge. You've also got more AI features here, but the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus' camera does struggle to focus at times, which will hopefully be sorted in an update.

It's really hard to find any glaring faults with the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, as should frankly be the case with a phone that has all the makings to become insanely popular sales-wise. Xiaomi just knows how to deliver value at this competitive mid-range price point. The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G might not sport the most premium of materials, but it is extremely well made and also, new for this year, extremely well protected against the elements. An SD card slot would have been great, and we are sure some will mourn the demise of the trusty old 3.5mm audio jack, but other than that, we can't say anything is missing or out of place in this design. The controls are where they should be.

In terms of shortcomings, we can probably only point to the RAM technology (LPDDR4X instead of the faster LPDD R5, as well as UF S 2.2 instead of the UF S 3.1 that the chip can support). Those two things dragged down the benchmark scores of this device, which is where we expected them to be. That's not to say that the R edmi Note 1 4 Pros isn't a great device. It actually offers more than we expected in its category. The Redmi Note 1 4 Pro is a solid device - well-rounded, balanced, but packed with flagship features. In the grand scheme of things, we think the Redmi Note 14 is a significant upgrade in this lineup and worth considering.

It’s clear that the Redmi Note 14 Pro’s strengths are with its impressive battery, general smooth performance, capable display and lightweight design. Xiaomi fans and potential buyers after a phone that isn’t too hard on one’s wallet might want to check out this one, as it gets a lot of the basics right. However if you prioritize factors such as camera performance, a “clean” and leaner version of Android, then there’s a bit of consideration to take into account here, especially when much more capable budget phones exist.

Anyone with a Note 13 Pro needn’t upgrade but this doesn’t alter the fact that the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is one of the best budget phones you can buy if you’re looking at the top end of this price bracket. The screen is excellent for the price, while its battery and charging capabilities are also impressive. Then there’s its capable main rear camera, easy-to-use software, and solid performance. It comes recommended but you should check out various cheaper rivals from the likes of Samsung, CMF and Motorola before taking the plunge.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro brings several premium features to the mid-range segment, staying true to Xiaomi’s tradition of offering value-packed devices. Its standout design, with an IP68 rating and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, makes it a durable and stylish option in its price range. The primary camera and the vibrant AMOLED display add to its appeal, especially for casual users who prioritise aesthetics and multimedia. However, the phone faces tough competition from rivals like the Motorola Edge 50 Neo and the OnePlus Nord CE4, which offer cleaner software experiences and slightly better overall performance. While the Redmi Note 14 Pro’s battery and charging speeds are decent for most users, heavy gamers or power users might find alternatives more suited to their needs.

Alright, so I better wrap up my review of the new Redmi Note 14 Pro. And as you’ve probably already guessed by now, I’m not its biggest fan in the world. I know that there are definitely a bunch of things to love about this guy. Including its gorgeous design, that fantastic display, and multi-day battery life. And also its durability thanks to all those IP ratings and the Victus 2 glass. But unless you are literally the clumsiest person on Earth, I can’t recommend the Redmi Note 14 Pro for some 25,000 Indian rupees. And I think instead of spending on all those IP certifications, Xiaomi should have invested in a better chipset and better cameras. So depending on your priority, you can shop from much better alternatives instead.

Priced at Rs 27,000 for the top-end variant, the Redmi Note 14 Pro commands a slight premium for a mid-range phone. But the extra cost feels justified when you look at what it offers — especially the standout display and long-lasting battery life. The display, though not a 2K panel, is impressively sharp and more than sufficient for most users. Its colour reproduction and contrast are exceptional, rivalling those of premium devices that cost nearly twice as much. If visuals are a priority for you, this phone delivers in spades. Performance-wise, the Note 14 Pro is solid, provided your expectations are realistic. It handles everyday tasks with ease and manages casual gaming well enough. However, if you push it too hard — whether it’s multitasking or demanding games — you might notice the occasional stutter.

Priced from Rs 24,999, the Redmi Note 14 Pro offers a vibrant display and excellent battery life, making it a strong contender for content consumption and general use. While its camera performance and software could use improvement, it remains a solid option for users seeking an all-rounder mid-range smartphone.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro brings several upgrades over its predecessor, including a brighter and premium curved display, better cameras and a larger battery life. However, the performance isn’t the best in class, and Xiaomi also needs to improve its charging speed. I thoroughly enjoyed using the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro during my review, and it’s an easy phone to recommend if you are not an intense gamer. You can also consider other options like the Realme 13 Pro 5G, Poco X6 Pro 5G and the Motorola Edge 40 Neo.

Both the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro and 14 Pro Plus are excellent smartphones for the price they ask for. These two phones have delivered everything a mid-range phone should and then some. Let’s start with the design, which is fantastic and comes in some excellent colors. You can even buy the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro in the eco-leather variant, which is even more premium. The two phones have a great display that is properly calibrated to provide great visuals, HDR, and higher brightness when using it outdoors. The chipsets are also quite good and can run some of the most graphically demanding games at high framerates. The camera performance of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro and 14 Pro Plus are also quite good.

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus and the slightly more stripped-back 14 Pro should launch globally soon, bringing their upgraded camera tech, gaming prowess etc to the UK. For now here's a look at the Chinese versions of these mid-range smartphones, with obligatory knob gags and cursing. The Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus 5G looks like one of the best phones around if you want premium specs for an affordable price.

Model:
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro combines sleek design, robust performance, and impressive battery life into a mid-range smartphone. With a slim profile of 162.3 mm by 74.4 mm and a weight of 190g, the device is easy to handle and offers IP68/IP69K water and dust resistance, ensuring durability in everyday use. Its boxy silhouette, refined edges, and minimalistic rear camera module with a circular flash add to its modern aesthetics. Available in Black, White, Purple, and Green, the phone also features a matte finish that resists fingerprints. The IR blaster continues to be a standout, allowing users to control smart home devices. The 6.67-inch AMOLED display is a key highlight, offering a sharp 1220 x 2712 resolution and 446 ppi pixel density. Enhanced by Dolby Vision and HDR10+, the display ensures vibrant, sharp visuals. A 120Hz refresh rate guarantees smooth scrolling, while the peak brightness of 3000 nits makes it highly legible outdoors. The Always-On Display feature offers quick access to notifications without unlocking the phone. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 further adds durability, protecting the screen from scratches and drops. Powering the Redmi Note 14 Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset, built on a 4nm process. It features an octa-core CPU with 4x2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 cores for demanding tasks and 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores for everyday use. The Mali-G615 MC2 GPU ensures smooth graphics performance, making the device suitable for gaming and media consumption. The phone offers multiple storage options: 128GB with 8GB RAM, 256GB with 8GB or 12GB RAM, and a top-end 512GB with 12GB RAM. However, there is no microSD card slot, so users must rely on the internal storage.
The camera setup on the Redmi Note 14 Pro is impressive for its class. The 50 MP primary sensor (with f/1.5 aperture and OIS) delivers clear, detailed photos even in low light. It’s paired with an 8 MP ultra-wide lens (f/2.2, 120° field of view) and a 2 MP macro lens (f/2.4) for close-ups. The rear camera supports 4K video recording at 24/30fps and 1080p at various frame rates, with gyro-EIS for stable footage. The 20 MP selfie camera (f/2.2) also captures detailed images and supports 1080p video recording. The 5500 mAh battery ensures long-lasting performance, capable of handling heavy usage throughout the day. The phone supports 45W wired charging with PD3.0, allowing for quick recharges. Despite the large battery, the phone remains lightweight and comfortable. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC (region-dependent). The phone also features GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, and QZSS for precise location tracking. Stereo speakers with Hi-Res audio support provide an immersive sound experience, while the in-display fingerprint scanner ensures security. Sensors like the accelerometer, gyro, compass, and ultrasonic are also included for enhanced functionality. In summary, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro stands out with its sleek design, solid performance, and impressive camera capabilities, all powered by a long-lasting battery. It’s an excellent choice for users looking for a reliable, well-rounded smartphone in the mid-range segment.
