The Mix Flip 2 is backed to build on the success of its forebear with specs such as the same Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC as conventional candy-bar powerhouse Android smartphones such as the OnePlus 13 or RedMagic 10 Pro. However, it might not resemble its predecessor all that much, according to a new leak.
The eminent leaker Digital Chat Station now asserts that what might be the world's first 8 Elite-powered clamshell smartphone might have dual 50MP rear cameras. However, neither of them will be a periscope zoom lens, even though Xiaomi successfully integrated one into the inaugural Mix Flip.
Its successor might also have an enlarged cover display - although it might be curved on two sides, which would be a first for the Mix Flip line.
That secondary screen could be joined by a main LTPO folding display of 1.5K in resolution and ~6.85 inches in diagonal length (as opposed to 6.86 inches in Xiaomi's current vertically-folding smartphone).
The upcoming device is also now thought to stick with a fingerprint sensor built into the power button. Then again, it is also tipped to launch with the wireless charging and IPX8 rating missing from its supposed predecessor.
Nevertheless, the omission of a periscope-type telephoto lens would be quite a gamble for Xiaomi to make in launching its second-gen clamshell foldable - particularly as the spec is something the Mix Flip can hold over Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip6 (which still starts at $799.99 on Amazon right now).
