The inaugural Xiaomi Mix Flip reportedly did quite well on the market (especially in China) despite the limits imposed on its cameras, screen-on time and performance by its clamshell form-factor. Its successor is expected to do better in some respects with a larger battery and an upgrade to the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
The Mix Flip 2 is also now backed to support ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity, whereas even the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 does not.
If so, it would be the first Xiaomi foldable smartphone with the technology, thought to give its users an improved smart-home experience, as with the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Apple ecosystem devices.
UWB on the second-gen Mix Flip might also help a user unlock and start their car automatically, so long as it is from a compatible marque, although that has yet to be determined.
The Mix Flip 2 is also predicted to support 5G roaming and faster 90W charging, but not satellite calling or messaging. It might debut alongside other premium products such as the Redmi K80 Ultra later in 2025.
