With yesterday's update release, Gaijin wrote a new chapter in the history of War Thunder. Version 2.41 of the game is nicknamed "Firebirds" and, despite its name, is about much more than just new jets. On the bright side, the iconic F-117A stealth fighter is not introduced as a premium vehicle, being a squadron aircraft instead.
In addition to the first stealth aircraft in the history of military aviation, here are other highlights of the War Thunder 2.41 "Firebirds" update:
- Three Dutch Leopard tanks join the French tech tree.
- Several lighter vehicles, including the Scimitar, Luchs A2, Skink, and ICV (P).
- Object 140 premium tank lands in the Russian tech tree.
- Both premium and regular jets, including the JA37DI, Su-22M4, and Tornado GR.4.
- A few new helos and updated cockpits.
- The French battleship Dunkerque alongside coastal French ships, which are finally out of beta.
In addition to the above, there are multiple mission and map updates, but the changes are quite subtle. However, the Ray Tracing options are not to be missed: Shadow Maps, Ambient Occlusion, and Reflections (including water and translucent ones). Direct3D 12 is a new API option, alongside anti-aliasing options such as FSR 3.1 and XeSS.
Since the best way to experience the changes is to play the new version of the game, it would be a great idea to get a controller to improve the experience. Right now, Amazon is offering a 20% discount on the Logitech G X56 H.O.T.A.S. throttle and joystick game controller, which can be acquired for $199.99 instead of $249.99.
