Vivo X500 Pro Max confirmed to offer new Zeiss Master Color display

While the first three teasers from Vivo product manager Han Boxiao focused primarily on camera hardware—such as the telephoto capabilities of the Vivo X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max— the CIPA 7 stabilization of the Vivo X500 Pro Max’s main camera, or the new Sony sensor which is said to offer significantly greater 17.5EV dynamic range, yesterday’s focus was primarily on the improvements the new 2nm MediaTek chip will bring to the camera system.

Today, it’s time for a completely different topic. The latest episode of the official teasers on Weibo centers entirely on the display, with the 2K resolution of the new 6.85-inch OLED display from BOE serving merely as the foundation for further technical details. Vivo is relying on the Chinese manufacturer’s new Q11 OLED panel, which is branded as a “Zeiss Master Color Display". Vivo touts a 43 percent improvement in color uniformity and a 23 percent optimization in brightness uniformity in this new generation.

Ghosting artifacts are also said to have been reduced, Han Boxiao promises a 93 percent improvement in this area. Dimming is said to be more precise at 0.3 lux and the automatic brightness adjustment to ambient light is said to be particularly smooth. Last but not least, the Q11 panel from BOE is expected to consume significantly less energy,  21 percent less than a typical 1.5K display to be precise, while also integrating a multispectral sensor under the display. Vivo also promises a 100 percent increase in lifespan. We’ll see if all of this translates into better test results a few weeks after the launch.
