Minisforum continues to release new devices at a breakneck pace. For instance, the company has already introduced four new products this month alone. To recap, these are the BD790i and NAB9 Plus, as well as AI X1 and AI X1 Pro mini-PCs.
Now, it has returned to the UM880 series, which it last refreshed in August with the UM880 Pro. Now, it has released the UM880 Plus, which is available exclusively with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS APU. While the Ryzen 7 8845HS contains a reasonably powerful Radeon 780M iGPU, USB4 and OCuLink connectivity is on hand for adding an external graphics card. For reference, the mini-PC features the following I/O:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x Clear CMOS
- 1x DC 19V
- 1x DisplayPort
- 1x DMIC
- 1x HDMI
- 1x RJ45 2.5 Gigabit
- 1x OCuLink
- 2x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2x USB 3.2 Type-A
- 1x USB4
If the UM890 Pro is anything to go by, then the UM880 Plus will populate one of its two M.2 2280 slots with an OCuLink adapter. As it stands, the mini-PC ships with 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage; Minisforum is not offering a cheaper barebones variant for the time being.
Based on Minisforum's promotional materials, the former will ship as two 16 GB SODIMM modules. By contrast, 1 TB of storage will likely be confined to a single M.2 2280 drive. Currently, the UM880 Plus is available for $649. However, initial launch discounts take up to $130 off for a 20% saving.
