In our review, the Minisforum EliteMini UM890 Pro shines in many aspects. Housing an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS and a Radeon 780M iGPU, strong performance is guaranteed, even if it is not AMD's latest APU generation. Only the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is ahead, particularly in terms of multi-core performance. Nevertheless, an efficient cooling system ensures consistently high performance without excessive noise emissions. This is where the mini PC stands out from many of its competitors, as it remains pleasantly quiet under full load.
The UM890 Pro offers a range of connectivity options, but requires a compromise when using the OCuLink interface, as there is no M.2 slot for this. Users can otherwise connect a number of external accessories as well as up to four monitors simultaneously. The workmanship and choice of materials are reflected in the pricing and give no cause for criticism. Overall, the Minisforum EliteMini UM890 Pro never really lets you down and consistently delivers excellent performance. If you can live with the aforementioned limitations, buyers will get one of the best mini PCs with an AMD Ryzen 9 APU.
The mini PC can be purchased directly from Minisforum. The Minisforum EliteMini UM890 Pro starts at $479 as a barebone, while our test model with 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD is available for $649. This is a decent price-performance ratio, especially in comparison to competing models such as the Geekom AX8 Pro or the Minisforum AI X1 Pro from the same company. Alternatively, the Minisforum EliteMini UM890 Pro can also be ordered from Amazon.
