After revealing the 12.2-inch Laptop 12 convertible and AMD-powered Desktop last month, Framework will soon be accepting preorders for the former starting early next week. The company is warning that an account may be required to place a preorder.
A 10-minute hands-on YouTube video has also been released by the team showcasing the features of the Laptop 12. Most of it could have just been condensed into a short specifications sheet, but to hear the design characteristics directly from CEO Nirav Patel himself definitely sells the product a little better.
Framework is betting on the 16:10 aspect ratio, 13th gen Intel Core CPUs, and colorful chassis options to help distinguish the Laptop 12 from the sea of competing Chromebooks or other cheap netbooks with inferior specifications. RAM is also expandable up to 48 GB which is very uncommon on 12-inch form factors.
Of course, the model also supports the same expansion cards that we're already familiar with from the Framework Laptop 13 series.
- 12.2-inch 1920 x 1200 touchscreen
- Intel 13th gen Core CPUs
- Up to 48 GB DDR5 RAM
- M.2 2230 SSD for storage
- 4x USB-C 3.2 w/ DisplayPort + Power Delivery support
Annoyingly, Framework will not unveil the price or shipment date until the pre-order date on April 9. Pricing will ultimately prove how competitive the Laptop 12 can be in a screen size where educational laptops and Chromebooks thrive.
