While AMD Hawk Point has now become more than a year old, manufacturers are still introducing new mini PCs that are powered by the Zen 4 APUs from the series. The Ninkear Mbox 8 Pro is one of them, which packs the Ryzen 7 8845HS, and the thing that primarily sets it apart from the other systems featuring the same APU is the design.
To be specific, the Mbox 8 Pro has a modular design. There's a magnetic base, which users can connect to the mini PC to expand the storage of the system. This base can hold an additional 3.5-inch SATA drive (4 TB Seagate IronWolf curr. $84.99 on Amazon), and besides being a medium for expanding storage, it also offers connectivity ports that are missing from the upper part of the system.
As for the mini PC itself, the Mbox 8 Pro can be paired with up to 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, and without the base, the system can hold an M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSD. Port-wise, the upper portion of the mini PC appears to have two USB-C, one DisplayPort 1.2, one HDMI 2.0, and two Ethernet ports. The detachable base, on the other hand, adds two USB 3.2, two USB 2.0, and one 3.5 mm audio jack.
For wireless connectivity, there's Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6. Ninkear didn't reveal any additional details about the mini PC, but the vents around the system suggest that it has an adequate cooling setup to keep the Ryzen 7 8845HS cool under loads. As for the price, the configuration with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage is currently available on Banggood at $634.99.
