While AMD officially unveiled the Strix Halo lineup back at CES 2025, not many systems featuring the new APUs have hit the market yet, and there haven't been any mini PCs with the Zen 5 offerings as well. However, that changed when GMKtec officially introduced its EVO-X2, which claimed to be the first of its kind with the Ryzen AI Max+ 395.
Given that the mini PC features the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, one of its main highlights is the Radeon 8060S iGPU. Said to be a discrete-class graphics, it sports 40 CU (Compute Units), which is more than double that of the Radeon 890M from the Strix Point lineup.
ETA Prime has recently tested a prototype mini PC with the same APU, and it performed reasonably well in the 1440p gaming test. We have also done an in-depth analysis on the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and found the iGPU to be on par with a gaming laptop featuring the RTX 4070.
That said, GMKtec has yet to share detailed information about the EVO-X2. However, per the showcase, the mini PC does appear to be relatively larger than average mini PCs in the market, likely because of the beefy cooler installed. Even so, the system does seem to be compact enough to fit in small workspaces.
GMK hasn't revealed the exact launch date and pricing of the EVO-X2 either. However, this new Strix Halo mini PC is expected to be available in Q2 of 2025, and as the EVO-X1 and other top-end Strix Point systems launched with a $900+ price tag (1 TB Minisforum AI370 curr. $935.99 on Amazon), the upcoming Zen 5 offering is expected to cost over $1,000.
