Ayaneo has presented various devices in the last year so, most of which fall under its x86 or Android handheld divisions. While many are now available like the flagship Ayaneo 3 or Ayaneo Pocket S, others remain stuck in development without a full release.
One example that falls into the latter camp is the AM01S, which Ayaneo announced in May 2024 with AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS and Ryzen 9 8945HS APU. For context, both APUs leverage AMD's RDNA 3 and Zen 4 architectures, which AMD has since replaced with RDNA 3.5 and Zen 5, respectively. In response, Ayaneo has updated the AM01S to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which can also be found across modern gaming handhelds like the OneXFly F1 Pro (curr. $1,439 on Amazon).
Consequently, the AM01S now has 12 Zen 5 CPU cores at its disposal, which would give it a decent performance advantage over the Ryzen 7 8845HS and Ryzen 9 8945HS. Likewise, the updated mini-PC benefits from a Radeon 890M iGPU and its 16 Compute Units (CUs). As a result, the AM01S should around 20% faster in GPU heavy applications than if Ayaneo released it with a Ryzen 9 8945HS APU.
By contrast, little else has changed about the AMO1S from its initial debut almost a year ago. For instance, Ayaneo continues to equip the mini-PC with a 4-inch display to serve as a secondary monitor, which it now claims is a native landscape panel. Similarly, the AM01S retains the classic Macintosh aesthetic that Ayaneo has offered across its other mini-PCs. Pricing and availability remain a mystery at this stage, though.
