Minisforum has made two new mini PCs available to purchase. One of them is the AI X1 Pro, which we have already made a separate coverage of. The second is the non-Pro version of the mini PC and it comes with a Mac mini-like design. Featuring a compact metal body measuring 128x126x52 mm, it packs a newly announced AMD APU.
To be specific, it's the Ryzen 7 260, which is part of the Hawk Point lineup. It's basically an identical APU to the Ryzen 7 8845HS with a different name. The APU sports 8 Zen 4 cores and 16 cores, making the new mini PC fairly capable of handling resource-demanding tasks.
The company has paired the APU with a "silent cooling system" that utilizes "advanced thermal materials." It's said to make the mini PC deliver a stable 65 W of performance. The Ryzen 7 260 also comes with the much-known Radeon 780M iGPU, making the Minisforum AI X1 fairly capable of gaming at 1080p.
Users can get a much more capable gaming setup by pairing an eGPU with the mini PC, which can be connected to the OCuLink or one of the two USB4 ports of this mini PC. Besides these three, the port configuration of the system has the following:
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 1x DP 2.0
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 1x 2.5G Ethernet
For wireless connectivity, the Minisforum AI X1 has WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Other highlights include a built-in dual-speaker setup and support for up to 96 GB of RAM and two 4 TB SSDs (2 TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus curr. $129.99 on Amazon). The barebone variant of the mini PC is currently $439 on the official store, while the top-end configuration with 64 GB of RAM and 1 TB storage is going for $687.
