Minisforum has introduced the NAB9 Plus in China, and at the core, it's a slightly upgraded version of the non-Plus model. The new affordable mini PC packs the Intel Core i9-12900HK, the same as the regular NAB9, but it comes with an upgraded interface.
One of the key highlights is the addition of an OCuLink port. This makes the NAB9 Plus a better pick for gaming when paired with an eGPU. There's a new USB4 port as well, which expands the compatibility with external GPUs even further. The new mini also has a DisplayPort 1.4, which was missing on the non-Plus model.
Besides these, the rest of the port selection remains more or less the same. That includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one HDMI 2.1, two USB 2.0 Type-A, and two 2.5G Ethernet ports. For wireless connections, there are built-in Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6E.
The company also highlights the "efficient" cooling system of the NAB9 Plus. It's said to be capable of offering optimal performance under heavy loads to the CPU. Like the non-Plus model, the new mini PC is upgradeable, with the easy-to-open cover offering easy access to the RAM and storage of the system.
On that note, the Minisforum NAB9 Plus can hold up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM running at 3200 MT/s. As for storage, there's one 2280 M.2 slot that can hold up to a 4 TB PCIe 4 SSD. Users can also equip the system with a 2.5-inch SATA 3.0 drive.
Now, while the new NAB9 Plus has seen a couple of upgrades from the non-Plus model, it didn't see a price hike in China. The barebone variant goes for CNY 2,299, around $317, and the top-end offering with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB storage costs CNY 3,099, about $427. Minisforum hasn't shared any plans about the global release yet, but the non-Plus model did make it outside China (available on Amazon).
