Right after launching the Minisforum Elite AI370, the company introduced the AI X1 Pro, which is a better-equipped Strix Point mini PC. One of the key differences between the two is that the former doesn't feature an OCuLink port, making it a less suitable system for an eGPU setup.
Nonetheless, this better-equipped Strix Point mini PC is now available to pre-order. Minisforum is also offering pre-sale discounts, with the base configuration featuring 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB storage costing $899. That renders a $230 discount from the regular tag. The top-end variant with 96 GB of RAM and 2 TB is currently $1,089, a $280 price cut from the original price.
Besides the OCuLink port, this new Strix Point mini PC features two USB 4 ports, expanding the compatibility with eGPUs (OneXGPU 2 curr. $1,059.99 on Amazon). The other ports on the Minisforum AI X1 Pro are:
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 1x DP 2.0
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 2x 2.5G Ethernet
- 1x SD card slot
Minisforum has also equipped the system with a fingerprint sensor and a Copilot button. Among the other highlights of the mini PC is the Radeon 890M, which is a top-end RDNA 3.5 iGPU within the Strix Point lineup. It's capable of smoothly running most modern AAA games at 1080p with decent visual settings.
The company also claims to have integrated an "efficient and silent" cooling setup. With "phase-change heat dissipation material," it's said to keep the system even during heavy loads. There's a 135 W built-in power supply as well, which should make it easier to get a clean setup on desks. You can learn more from the complete spec sheet attached below.
