Timex launches new vintage dress watch with stainless steel case
Earlier this month, Timex launched the 1976 Lexington Reissue Inspired (TW2Y88200) watch in a silver dial colorway. Now, the brand has expanded the lineup by introducing the new 1976 Lexington Reissue Inspired (TW2Y78900) watch in an ice-blue dial. The difference between the two timepieces is cosmetic. Speaking more precisely, they are limited to dial color and the strap; that’s it. Otherwise, the rest of the hardware remains the same in both watches.
You get the same rectangular dress watch design from the 1970s. The analog watch ships with a compact 21 mm polished stainless steel case, which measures 8.5 mm (0.33 inches) in thickness and 36 mm lug-to-lug length. The dial of the watch has an ice blue finish adorned with elongated Roman numerals and metallic silver hands. Plus, the top of the dial is protected by a slightly domed mineral crystal, which gives the watch a vintage look and basic scratch resistance.
Inside, the TW2Y78900 is powered by a standard quartz analog movement. Furthermore, the case of the watch is paired with an 18 mm brown leather strap with a smooth grain pattern. Made from natural leather, the strap can be adjusted to fit wrists between 135 mm and 195 mm (5.31 and 7.6 inches). The watch also offers 30 m (3 bar) water resistance, meaning it can withstand normal water splashes. It’s worth noting that it isn’t built to be worn while swimming or snorkeling.
