Timex also launched a black Marlin in stainless-steel: 34 mm watch sold out in the US, in stock elsewhere

Timex 34mm Marlin Quartz Black dial
ⓘ Timex
The black-dial variant of the new 34 mm Timex Marlin watch that's only available on Timex UK for now.
The black Timex Marlin Quartz TW6A04200 sold out on preorder in the US at $219, but it is still in open stock on the UK store at £180. Strip the VAT out and the British price is actually $16 lower, and it was never even a preorder there.

The black Marlin Quartz that sold out on Timex's American store within hours of appearing is still sitting in stock in the United Kingdom, and it was never sold as a preorder there at all.

The TW6A04200 reached timex.com carrying both a 'New' and a 'Pre-Order' badge at $219. That listing now shows a dead button and a "Notify Me When Available" link. On the British store the same reference has only a 'New' badge, has an active Add to Bag button, and is going for £180.

The pricing gap between the two regions in interesting as well: it is decent (but still smaller than what the numbers directly indicate). British retail prices include 20 percent VAT, which American prices exclude. Taking that out leaves £150 (~$203) against the American $219. That's a difference of about $16 before any local sales tax is added at a US checkout.

The sales pattern for this black-dial reference is also a little confusing. Timex chose to meter the American stock through a preorder that closed without a delivery date ever being published. At the same time, the UK website shows open stock. The three other bracelet references, the gold-tone TW6A04000 and the blue and pink TW6A03800 and TW6A03900, went directly to open sale in both markets.

The watch sports a 34 mm polished silver-tone steel case, 41 mm lug to lug width, 10.5 mm height and 69.44 g weight, covered with a domed acrylic crystal. The bracelet is 18 mm with a deployant clasp, adjusting between 142 and 205 mm. Water resistance is 30 m, which Timex limits to hand-washing and splashes. The dial is black sunray with applied metallic markers and luminant on the hands only. Timex does list a battery — SR626SW, but no movement caliber.

Buyers in the United States who want it now have a route, provided they are willing to pay international shipping.
