Citizen's new full stainless-steel Eco-Drive watches launch with coin-edge bezels
Citizen has added three watches to its UK store that use a minute-scaled bezel with a five-link bracelet — watch fans will recognize this combination from mid-century Rolexes.
All three fall under the "Men's Sport" collection. Reference no. AW1911-53A features a white dial in a silver-tone steel case with a black bezel at £279. AW1911-53E is the same watch with a black dial, also £279. AW1914-55L gets a two-tone case and bracelet with a blue dial and gold-tone bezel at £299, effectively making the two-tone finish a £20 addition.
The bezel is basically the design's anchor. Each of these three have a coin-edge outer ring marked at 10-minute intervals with a triangle at 12. It wraps around a dial with applied arrowhead indices and luminous fill. A date window gets the three o'clock position.
Case size is 43 mm across all three, in stainless-steel, with fold-over clasps and push buttons on the bracelets. Water resistance is 100 m, which Citizen rates for swimming, showering and light snorkelling. The crystal is mineral. Power comes from Eco-Drive, which charges from any light source and removes the battery entirely.
What Citizen does not publish is more important here. The technical specification tab shows no caliber, no case thickness, no lug width and no power reserve figure for any of the three. For now, buyers comparing them against the brand's own Weekender or Sport Luxury lines have no movement reference to work from. We will update this launch piece once the Japanese timepiece manufacturer lists more info.
