Nintendo Direct tipped for early September with a big Zelda: Ocarina of Time segment

Nintendo officially teased The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake at Nintendo Direct 6.9.2026. The upcoming direct will reportedly cover the game again.
YouTuber SwitchForce predicts the next Nintendo Direct lands on Thursday, September 10. He adds that it will be headlined by a big Zelda segment on the Ocarina of Time remake, possibly with Eiji Aonuma. He also warns against expecting Mario, Metroid or Animal Crossing.

Nintendo has not confirmed its next Direct, but YouTuber SwitchForce has put a date on it: Thursday, September 10.

The claim came in a video published Sunday titled "The Nintendo Direct Might Disappoint You. Here's Why That's Fine," (10:19 onwards, see video below) which had around 12,000 views as of writing. He also mentioned September 3 and 8 as alternatives, and framed the call with "I think" instead of presenting it as insider information.

A post with this claim on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours was tagged as a rumor; the original poster added that SwitchForce does not make clear whether this is a prediction or a leak, while pointing to his record on past Directs at the same time. As per our own reporting from last year (2025), SwitchForce's September 2025 Direct call was corroborated by Video Games Chronicle and leaker NateTheHate2.

The calendar also independently supports this date. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is launching on 17 September. This places a 10 September Direct in the week before a major first-party launch. Nintendo has held a Direct in the first half of September nearly every year, skipping only 2015 and 2024. The company typically announces them 24 to 48 hours ahead.

Content-wise, SwitchForce expects a solid show and not an all-out one: a big Zelda segment centred on the Ocarina of Time remake revealed in June, possibly presented by series producer Eiji Aonuma, plus third-party announcements and perhaps a third-party exclusive. At most, he expects a single 2027 tease, and explicitly advises against expecting any new Mario, Metroid, Animal Crossing or Mario Party reveals.

Both the Ocarina of Time remake and The Duskbloods are still undated, and both are slated for this year.
