Samsung has equipped its entry-level flagship phone with 25 W charging for the past six generations, and that doesn't seem likely to change with the Galaxy S27. According to a certification listing, the compact premium phone will launch next year with the slowest charging technology of all devices in its class.

Samsung is all but certain to launch the Galaxy S27 series in the first quarter of 2027. Four models are expected: the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, Galaxy S27 Pro, and the line-leading Galaxy S27 Ultra. According to a new listing, the entry-level device in the lineup appears to have a rather notable shortcoming, however.

As spotted on China's 3C website, the Galaxy S27 has been registered with a max charging wattage of 25 W. The upcoming premium phone, listed with the model number "SM-S9520", supports 10 W, 15 W, and a maximum of 25 W wired charging. That's effectively the same as the Galaxy S20 that launched back in 2020, signifying seven years of the same charging capacity for Samsung's vanilla flagship phone.

While some may have expected the Galaxy S27+ to get the 60 W charging upgrade from the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the listing also confirms that it will peak at 45 W charging, much like its predecessors going back to 2022's Galaxy S22+

Although easily superseded by the competition, 45 W charging is considered decent, but fans of the series are unlikely to be thrilled by the prospect of 25 W charging on the vanilla Galaxy S27. Rival devices all offer significantly faster wired charging: 100 W for the Xiaomi 17, 80 W for the Oppo Find X9, 90 W for the Vivo X300, and 40 W for even the iPhone 17
