Galaxy S27 Ultra said to get improved image processing for more natural looking photos

When it comes to smartphone photos and videos, image processing matters just as much as the megapixel count, if not more. The top three smartphone makers have their own algorithms that deliver visually distinct-looking images of the same subject. Samsung is known for typically producing cool-toned, relatively high-saturation images through its flagships, but that may change with the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Leaker WalleGalaxy posted on X that Samsung is reworking its image processing algorithms for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. This will reportedly lead to a warmer and more natural-looking output, specifically for photos. For years, Samsung’s flagships have had great cameras, but due to the image processing algorithms, even though the images have great detail and punchy colors, they sometimes look oversaturated. With the Galaxy S27 Ultra, the photos should better represent the actual scene.
The improvements are not limited to photography. The leaker states that Samsung has updated the Log format and Advanced Professional Recording (APV) codec, which should result in better HDR video. The APV codec, introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra (buy on Amazon), is used for professional-level recording due to minimal compression. As for resolution, the leaker adds that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will still support 4K (3,840x2,160) at 120 FPS and 8K (7,680x4,320) at 30 FPS.
It should be noted that Samsung has not shared any information on the upcoming Galaxy S27 series, but from the multitude of rumors and leaks, the Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra are shaping up to be impressive upgrades over the current generation.
