Upgraded Xiaomi TV Stick HD now available in more countries with Google TV and Dolby Audio
Xiaomi has finally released the TV Stick HD (2nd Gen) in the Eurozone. Previously sold in other parts of Europe, the Fire TV Stick HD (curr. $17.99 on Amazon) rival is also now available in other markets like South Korea too, where it retails for KRW 99,000 (~$72). While the TV Stick HD (2nd Gen) has not reached all 21 member states yet, it has now officially arrived in France and Germany for €54.99 and €54.90 (~$63), respectively.
To recap, the TV Stick HD (2nd Gen) outputs at 1080p and 60 Hz via its full-sized HDMI port. According to Xiaomi, the TV stick supports HDR10+, DTS:X, DTS HD and Dolby Audio technologies, as well as Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting external devices like controllers, remotes and headphones or earbuds. Also, the TV Stick HD (2nd Gen) connects to the internet via 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
Also, this internet connectivity provides access to over 10,000 apps available through the Play Store. To that end, Xiaomi pre-installs Google TV on the device's 8 GB of built-in storage, which it complements with 1 GB of DDR4 RAM and a chipset combining four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores with a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU for a significant performance boost over the older Mi TV Stick.
On top of that, Xiaomi includes a compact remote featuring Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube shortcuts. Also, the remote handles voice controls using Google Assistant, which can be accessed directly on the remote, too.
