Initial rumours of a March launch for the Galaxy S26 family originated from Greece. According to a report from the Southern European country, Samsung fans may have to wait two months longer than expected for the successor to the Galaxy S25 Ultra (available here on Amazon). At the time, we were slightly sceptical about whether the launch would actually be pushed back that far. However, an increasing number of sources are pointing to a substantial delay. The highly regarded leaker Setsuna Digital revealed on Weibo that the Galaxy S26 series may only be unveiled in March 2026.
Mass production partly delayed to 2026
South Korean trade journal TheElec recently outlined well-founded reasons for the partially delayed availability of the Galaxy S26 lineup. According to its report, industry insiders emphasised that Samsung will start manufacturing the Galaxy S26 Ultra in December 2025 as planned, whilst the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ (whose development reportedly began later) are expected to enter production in January. Sources noted that even though development work has concluded for both the base and Ultra models, it would make sense to hold off the mass production of the Galaxy S26 until the Galaxy S26+ is finalised, given how similar these two devices are apart from their size.
The report also revealed that only the S26 Ultra’s OLED “Privacy Display” has been officially approved for production at this time. The rumoured cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge late into its development – allegedly due to the S25 Edge’s disappointing sales – may have affected the completion of the Galaxy S26 series after all. It remains unclear whether Samsung will opt to postpone the Galaxy Unpacked event for all three models or bring forward the launch of the Ultra model.
