Qualcomm has updated its mid-range chipset product line with a new Snapdragon 6 series model, having introduced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 last month. This time, the company has unveiled the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, which arrives over eight months after the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 debuted.
According to Qualcomm, its new 4 nm chipset contains a 36% faster CPU thanks to its four performance cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four efficiency cores running at 1.8 GHz. Better still, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is said to deliver a 59% GPU uplift over the 'previous generation'. Unfortunately, the company has not offered any specifics in this regard.
Logically, that comparison would be with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 that the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 should be replacing. However, the part number 'SM6435-AA' indicates that the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is a relative of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 (SM6450) found in multiple smartphones like the Honor Magic 7 Lite and Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 (curr. $199 on Amazon).
In fact, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 offers the same CPU layout and clock speeds as the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. With that being said, the former jumps to 144 Hz and 1080p display support, with Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity offered too. Please see Qualcomm's product brief below for more details.
