RedMagic 8S Pro unveiled with AnTuTu record-breaking performance
Nubia has finally released the RedMagic 8S Pro, which debuts alongside the RedMagic Gaming Tablet. While the former is a refreshed RedMagic 8 Pro, it is the first smartphone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version. Although Qualcomm has not commented on the new chipset yet, it will likely be marketed outside China as the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2.
Seemingly, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version is another name for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, which powers the Galaxy S23 series. For example, both chipsets have 3.36 GHz peak CPU clock speeds. Likewise, the former matches the latter's GPU speed of 719 MHz. Still, the inclusion of 24 GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage helps the RedMagic 8S Pro score 1,713,658 points in AnTuTu, a new benchmark record.

Additionally, the RedMagic 8S Pro has shoulder buttons, a Red Core 2 chip design to free up the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version and an improved cooling system (ICE 12). Moreover, Nubia includes a 6.8-inch AMOLED display that operates at 2,480 x 1,116 pixels with 120 Hz refresh and 960 Hz touch sampling rates. Also, the panel peaks at 1,300 nits and has a 93.7% screen-to-body ratio thanks to an under-panel (UDC) front-facing camera.
The RedMagic 8S Pro starts at CNY 3,999 (~US$554) with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. This standard model has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 80 W wired charging too. Alternatively, Nubia sells the RedMagic 8S Pro+ with a 6,000 mAh battery and 165 W wired charging from CNY 5,499 (~US$762) and a special Bumblebee Super Warrior Collection Edition, pictured below.
The company also offers transparent versions of both variants; all SKUs ship with 50 MP primary, 16 MP front-facing, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and 2 MP macro cameras, though. Nubia has not commented on a global launch yet, but recent RedMagic smartphone releases suggest that the RedMagic 8S Pro will be available outside China eventually.
