The launch of the Phone (2) is fast approaching, which Nothing has scheduled for July 11. Unsurprisingly, the company has been sharing various hints about the device, such as design changes from the existing Phone (1). It is also keeping the latter updated, which may receive Android 14 next month via Nothing OS 2.0.
In the meantime, the company has announced Nothing OS 1.5.5, likely one of the last Android 13-based updates for the Phone (1). Supposedly, the new build targets four areas, although one of these is only because of a new Android security patch. As the screenshot below shows, Nothing claims to reworked how Nothing OS uses RAM. Reportedly, its new dynamic usage should allow apps to open more quickly and for more 10% more apps to remain open in the background.
Moreover, the Phone (1) should consume less power when in standby mode with accessories connected via Bluetooth. Nothing OS 1.5.5 improves face unlock accuracy too. Nothing states that it started rolling out Nothing OS 1.5.5 on July 1. Typically, the company issues software updates in batches, meaning that it could take a few more days before this month's software update reaches your Phone (1).
