Foldable smartphones are largely perceived as much more fragile than their conventional flagship counterparts - an impression not helped in the slightest by Ars Technica's latest findings on Google's inaugural Pixel Fold.
Then again, it might not be impossible for a user to replace a main flexible display in such a state independently, as recently demonstrated by third-party repair vlogger Hugh Jeffreys. It seems Google also considers the Pixel Fold a relatively easy at-home fix, as it has cut the device in on its new official partnership with iFixit.
Accordingly, the Fold will join the Pixel 7 Pro in being supported in terms of having its own "genuine spare parts", as well as compatible repair guides and tools, on sale.
The initiative will comprise just one Pixel Fold restoration option, along with a Preferred Care extended warranty program, mail-in services and physical service centers. The last 2 still apply when the device is out of warranty, too.
Alternatively, a Spigen Thin Fit case may help keep your Pixel Fold in mint condition.
