Google Pixel 8 Pro: New blue colour option and Audio Magic Eraser detailed in leaked promotional video
An alleged official promotional video showing the Pixel 8 Pro and 'Audio Magic Eraser' has surfaced online, courtesy of the Twitter account @EZ8622647227573. Is is worth noting that while the 14-second video looks the part, its authenticity has not been verified, nor is @EZ8622647227573 a well-known or reliable leaker. Thus, we recommend exercising some caution for now, despite the video's apparent legitimacy.
As expected, the Pixel 8 Pro has a rounder design than its predecessor, as well as a tweaked camera bar layout. Specifically, a single piece of glass covers all the Pixel 8 Pro's rear-facing cameras, rather than the two-part layout that Google adopted for the Pixel 7 Pro. Additionally, the video is the first sighting of the Pixel 8 Pro's blue colourway, which mirrors the 'Sea' option that Google created for the Pixel 7a. The Pixel 8 Pro also appears to have matte or satin side rails, which should attract fewer fingerprints than last year's model.
Moreover, the short video briefly explains Audio Magic Eraser, which Google will market as being capable of reducing unwanted background noise. As the video below shows, Audio Magic Eraser has sliders for 'Music', 'Noise' and 'People' that can be dragged from left to right to customise its effect. Unsurprisingly, Audio Magic Eraser will be a Pixel 8 series exclusive at launch, with the video including the strapline 'the only phone with Audio Magic Eraser.
However, its inclusion within the Google Photos video editor means that it may eventually be available on other devices, as is now the case with Magic Eraser for photos. Please note that you must be a Google One subscriber to access Magic Eraser on non-Pixel smartphones. Currently, Google is expected to launch the Pixel 8 series in the autumn alongside the Pixel Watch 2, details of which we have covered separately.
