Twitter leaker Yogesh Brar has revealed the Pixel 8's price. The smartphone will start at US$649 for the base variant with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Google is slated to launch the smartphone early in October 2023.

As is tradition, the internet is flush with information about Google's upcoming Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro flagship smartphones. Everything from its camera specs to screen size has been leaked online. The Pixel 8 Pro could even double up as an IR thermometer. Twitter leaker Yogesh Brar has now revealed yet another important detail about the Pixel 8, its price.

The compact flagship is set to retail at US$649 for the entry-level variant with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Bumping the latter up to 256 GB will put one back by US$699. It represents a modest US$50 price increase, implying the increase will also apply to its Pro version.

Based on what we know so far, both phones seem to be incremental upgrades over their predecessors. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will fall further behind the (mostly) Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered competition due to their anaemic Tensor G3 SoC. However, the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is an excellent QoL improvement.

Yogesh rounds things off by stating the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be unveiled in early October, about the same time as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro dropped last year. Availability has been yet another issue with Pixel phones, with the previous year's models being sold in only 17 countries. One can only hope that the Pixel 8 series will be accessible to users in more regions this time.
