Google Pixel Watch 2: New sighting reveals numerous details about upcoming smartwatch
Google has now listed the Pixel Watch 2 on the Google Play Console, another sign that the company intends to release its second-generation smartwatch soon. For reference, the Pixel Watch 2 is expected to land this autumn alongside the Pixel 8 series, a promotional video of which surfaced last week. The Pixel Watch 2 was also recently seen on the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) database, confirming three model numbers and no UWB support in the process.
Supposedly, the picture above is of the Pixel Watch 2, and not its predecessor. While there is no way of verifying whether Google has re-used a Pixel Watch render for now, 9to5Google has previously stated that Google will retain the Pixel Watch's overall design for its successor. Regardless, the Google Play Console listing confirms that Google has codenamed the Pixel Watch 2 'eos' and has equipped it with a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, shown below as the 'Qualcomm SW5100'.
Moreover, the Pixel Watch 2 has 2 GB of RAM, as does its predecessor and the Galaxy Watch6 series. The Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 should outperform the latter's Exynos W930 chipset in all areas though, including power efficiency. Furthermore, the Google Play Console refers to the Pixel Watch 2 as having a 384 x 384-pixel and 320 PPI display, matching the display characteristics of the original Pixel Watch. The Pixel Watch 2 may feature a nominally larger battery than the Pixel Watch too, although Google has revealed this in the same Play Console listing.
