Motorola Moto G84 5G: Official images surface for new mid-range smartphone

Evan Blass has shared official images of the Moto G84 5G, shortly after doing the same for the Moto G54. For context, the leaker published the images following the former's appearance on the Federal Communication Commissions' database, which we have covered separately. In short, the FCC confirmed that Motorola has assigned the Moto G84 5G the model number XT2347-2, among a few other features.

With Motorola deciding against releasing a Moto G83, the Moto G84 5G effectively succeeds both the Moto G82 and the Moto G73, which arrived in May 2022 and January 2023, respectively. Surprisingly, the Moto G84 5G looks like a spitting image of the Moto G73, despite the former being a rung above the latter in Motorola's Moto G product stack. There are a few hints that Motorola will market the Moto G84 5G as a more premium device than the Moto G73, though.

For instance, it seems that the Moto G84 5G has thinner bezels than the Moto G73, particularly its bottom bezel. Additionally, the Moto G84 5G appears to have a metal frame coupled with vegan leather back options. By contrast, Motorola equips the Moto G73 with a plastic frame and a plastic back panel, presumably to reduce costs. Moreover, Motorola has optically stabilised the Moto G84 5G's 50 MP primary camera, which the Moto G73 lacks. While a release date has not emerged yet, the appearance of official renders implies that Motorola is close to introducing the smartphone.
