Google rolls out July 2023 update to Pixel devices with bug fixes for new Pixel Tablet
Google is now rolling out the July 2023 update to Pixel smartphones. Arriving as TQ3A.230705.001 for all but the Pixel Fold, which receives TQ3C.230705.001, the July 2023 update lacks the raft of changes found in last month's Feature Drop. For reference, Google is distributing the new update for the Pixel 4a (5G) through Pixel 7 Pro, including the newly released Pixel Tablet.
According to 9to5Google, TQ3A.230705.001 is just over a 20 MB download, emphasising the lack of changes that Google has included this time around. Seemingly, the company has only bundled bug fixes for the Pixel Tablet, which should no longer suffer from an issue that caused lock screen notification text to display behind unlock UI elements. Additionally, Google claims to have improved battery usage, charging and thermal performance in certain undefined conditions.
Moreover, Google has bundled 2023-07-01 and 2023-07-05 security patches within the July 2023 update for all eligible Pixel devices. In short, the two patches address over 50 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) for Pixel devices. Please see Google's support document for more details about what security issues it has resolved.
