Google has announced an expansion of Magic Eraser device eligibility, roughly 18 months after the company introduced the feature with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Arguably, Magic Eraser is one of Pixel smartphones' stand-out features and one upon which Google markets the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series. In short, Magic Eraser allows you to remove objects or people from a photo by marketing it with your finger. Magic Eraser works well, as the images below show, and underlines the strength of Google's AI chops.
From now on, all Google One subscribers will be able to use Magic Eraser within the Google Photos app, regardless of which platform you use. Hence, Google is opening Magic Eraser to iPhones and other Android smartphone brands. However, you must pay for a Google One subscription to obtain access, which Google rolls into Google Drive memberships. Conversely, Google Pixel owners retain free Magic Eraser access through the Google Photos app.
Meanwhile, Google has also brought a HDR effect for video recordings to Google One subscribers. According to Google, the effect should function as well as it does on photos, although its success may vary in some cases. Finally, Google is now offering free shipping on print orders for those who live in Canada, the EU, the UK or the US.
