Leaker Kamila Wojciechowska, who recently became known to wider circles because of her Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro leaks, has revealed several previously unknown technical details about the Phone (2), Nothing's next smartphone. In a series of tweets, Wojciechowska explains that Nothing has equipped the Phone (2) with a Sony IMX890 as its primary camera, swapping out the old Sony IMX766 used in the Phone (1). Also found in the OnePlus 11, the Sony IMX890 should help the Phone (2) deliver improved photo and video quality compared to the Sony IMX766 while maintaining a 50 MP native output.
Incidentally, the Sony IMX890 will support in-sensor zoom and optical image stabilisation (OIS), while the ISP in the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 should provide image quality refinements of its own over the equivalent in the Snapdragon 778G Plus that powers the Phone (1). The Nothing Phone (2) is said to feature a new front-facing camera too, described by Wojciechowska as the Sony IMX615, a 32 MP sensor supported by electronic image stabilisation (EIS). Conversely, Nothing has not replaced the ultra-wide-angle camera, which remains the Samsung JN1. The ultra-wide-angle still makes do with EIS too, rather than the superior OIS.
Wojciechowska adds that Nothing has sourced a Visionox AMOLED panel for the Phone (2), which supports 1 Hz, 10 Hz, 24 Hz and 30 Hz low power modes, plus a peak 120 Hz refresh rate. Allegedly, the display measures 156 x 69 mm, equivalent to 6.72-inches, and operates natively at 2,412 x 1,080 pixels. Meanwhile, Goodix continues to supply optical fingerprint sensors that Nothing will integrate underneath the Phone (2)'s large display. Separately, Wojciechowska has also leaked official Phone (2) wallpapers, which we have embedded below. Alternatively, the leaker has shared high-quality versions via a Google Drive folder.
