Razer's quality control issues persist as $4,500 Blade 16 2026's webcam disappoints vs MacBook Pro 16

Time and again, we have lamented the poor webcam quality on most Windows laptops. While some Windows laptop OEMs have started implementing good-quality webcams on their notebooks, Windows laptops still lag behind Apple MacBooks. A recent comparison between the Razer Blade 16 2026 and the Apple MacBook Pro 16 M5 Max demonstrated this gulf in webcam quality perfectly.
In Max Tech’s comparison of the Razer Blade 16 2026 and the M5 Max-powered MacBook Pro 16, the webcam quality of the Razer Blade 16 is nowhere near the MacBook Pro 16 M5 Max. The Razer Blade 16 2026 is softer with poor color rendition.
Even worse, the video quality of the webcam is unstable, as Max Tech shows that the video flickers when the reviewer waves his hands. The result looks terrible. The Apple MacBook Pro 16 suffers from no such issues. This seems to be a software bug, and we hope Razer fixes it promptly.
The low image quality of the 2026 Razer Blade 16 is nothing new. We noted in our review of the 2025 Razer Blade 16 that the image quality of the webcam wasn’t “particularly good”. Razer seems to have made no improvements here.
Razer laptops have a bad reputation, even while being expensive
The 2026 Razer Blade 16 starts at $3,500, and the RTX 5090 version with 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of SSD costs $4,500. The Apple MacBook Pro is known for being super expensive for the hardware. However, the Razer Blade 16 2026 that Max Tech tested costs $100 more.
In fact, Razer laptops are known to cost more than other Windows laptops with similar hardware. Sadly, despite being more expensive, Razer’s quality control seems to be quite bad. Subreddits like r/razer are full of people complaining about issues with their Razer laptops. So, the Blade 16 2026 seemingly having issues with its webcam will not come as a surprise to many.
