Yesterday, Asus launched a plethora of laptops in the US. While some were already available in Europe, the Zenbook A14 and Zenbook A16 were entirely new releases. For reference, the full list of new laptops is as follows, with links to our release articles:
Initially, these laptops started at $999 or $1,149 for Snapdragon X2-powered variants. As we noted, the prices of new Zenbook S14 and Zenbook S16 laptops were rather strange, with weaker processors costing more than their more powerful counterparts. Not only were these prices quickly adjusted, but they have now risen for all the laptops listed above.
As a result, the Zenbook 14 now starts at 35% more in the US than it did yesterday. Incidentally, Asus has not raised prices in Europe, where the laptop retails for €1,299 and £1,249 including VAT. Likewise, the Zenbook A14 joins its 14-inch counterpart at $1,349, with Zenbook A16 pricing adjusted by $100 to $1,699.
Consequently, the Zenbook A14 is now significantly more expensive than Asus' original model (curr. $769 on Amazon). Meanwhile, these price changes have had the effect of making the Zenbook S16 $100 cheaper than the smaller Zenbook 14. Asus has not revealed the reasons behind these price increases, either.
