Exciting secondary display for MacBook Pro and Air features slide-out mechanism

There are relatively affordable add-on displays for laptops available at Amazon and other retailers. These are either placed next to the laptop or mounted to the main display. That can significantly increase the available screen area, which can help with productivity. The SpectraSlideOut is a new external display with a somewhat unusual design. In practice, it is an additional enclosure that is meant to fit around the notebook like a second skin. The advantage is that the SpectraSlideOut can stay attached to the device during transport, which means the second display could still be useful even for short work sessions. It will likely also provide a secure fit. As part of an Indiegogo campaign, the model will be offered in two versions: one made of ABS and one made of aluminum.
Unsurprisingly, compatibility is limited to certain notebooks. At launch, the SpectraSlideOut is set to be available for the 14-inch MacBook Pro (M4) and 13-inch models, the 15-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air (M3/M2), as well as earlier 15-inch MacBook Air versions. Also unsurprisingly, the notebook’s thickness will increase noticeably, and the same will likely be true of its weight. No additional battery or power adapter is expected to be required, as the SpectraSlideOut draws power from the notebook’s battery. Detailed technical information has not been shared, and neither has the exact price. The Indiegogo campaign is scheduled to launch on April 28.
