Asus releases new 14-inch laptop globally with AMD Gorgon Point and OLED display

Asus has released a new suite of Zenbook 14 laptops globally. Equipped with AMD Ryzen Gorgon Point APUs, these 14-inch laptops replace last year's Krackan Point models rather than their Intel Arrow Lake-H counterparts (curr. $869 on Amazon).
According to Asus, all new UM3405 and UM3406 SKUs combine 75 Wh batteries with 1200p OLED displays. The latter delivers 600 nits peak brightness in HDR mode too, as well as 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage. Unfortunately, a 60 Hz refresh rate remains. Moreover, Asus includes the following ports across all models:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x HDMI 2.1 (TMDS)
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (DisplayPort/Power Delivery)
- 1x USB 4
The new Zenbook 14 starts at $999.99 with a Ryzen AI 9 465 APU, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. For some reason, Asus equips lesser Ryzen AI 7 445 options with more RAM and or more storage. As a result, these Ryzen AI 7 445 SKUs cost up to $1,499 in the US with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
Meanwhile, the laptop starts at £1,249 in the UK with a Ryzen AI 7 445 APU, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The same configuration can be purchased in the Eurozone for €1,299. Please see Asus' website for more details.
