A new Philips Hue Smart Button could launch later this year. The original model was released in 2019 as an accessory for the brand’s smart lighting products.
A recent report from Hueblog.com suggests that an updated version of the Philips Hue Smart Button is in development. This is backed up by a recent filing at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US for a ‘Digital Device’ with model number 9290045822. Here, the company describes a device with features that could point to this new light switch. According to Hueblog.com, the updated model will be larger and could have a more angular design. However, its features are likely to remain the same.
As a reminder, the original Philips Hue Smart Button is a battery-powered accessory. It comes with a wall plate and mini-mount, to which it attaches magnetically, so you can easily move the switch around your home to suit your needs. You can use the gadget to trigger your favourite smart lighting scenes, with a single press to switch lights on or off. Plus, you can press and hold to adjust the brightness.
The Philips Hue Smart Button requires a Hue Bridge and can be remotely controlled via the Philips Hue app, which is available for iOS and Android. It is unclear when the new Philips Hue Smart Button will launch or how much it will cost. The older version of this product is currently available at Amazon for $24.99.
